Dave has been playing/teaching guitar
in the Chicago area for over 25 years.
It all started innocently enough; tagging along as his brother practiced drums in the basement. This turned into guitar lessons, which turned into a B.M. in Commercial Music (emphasis in Classical guitar) from Millikin University, which led to a Master's in Jazz Studies from Roosevelt University. He has now been teaching private lessons for the past 20 years, and in 2015 played for over 40 productions of “Tommy” at The Paramount, over 30 productions (respectively) of “Big Fish” and “All Shook Up” at The Theater at the Center in Munster, and over 40 productions of Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s critically-acclaimed hit, “Ride the Cyclone.” Most recently, Dave began subbing on the
Chicago production of Hamilton.
He has also played for countless weddings, parties, religious services and private events
and can regularly be seen with Chicago-based group, Diana and the Dishes.
In the spring of 2014, Dave opened Saenger Guitar Studio located at 2954 W Montrose. Here he offers private guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele and bass lessons for all ages focusing on the joy of discovering (or rediscovering) a musical instrument and works with you to combine your interests and goals with proper technique and theory.
